A backcountry walk-in campsite located on the Saint Louis River in Jay Cooke State Park. Ash Ridge is one of four backpack camping sites in the park, situated 1-4 miles from parking areas along trails that were restored after the 2012 flood. The site is reached by crossing the Swing bridge and hiking left for 2.7 miles on relatively flat terrain. Each backpack site includes a picnic table, fire ring, bear-safe box, and latrine. Campers must carry in their own water or treat water on-site. The Ash Ridge site is spacious and located right on the St. Louis River, though a steep hill leads down to the water. Registration at the park office is required for access details and trail information.
