Berry Ridge Road is a free dispersed camping area in the Hoosier National Forest near Freetown, Indiana. The gravel forest road contains approximately nine primitive camping spots spaced far apart (sometimes half a mile) for excellent privacy. Sites accommodate tent camping and smaller RVs, with natural fire pits and plenty of deadwood available. No amenities are provided - this is true pack-in, pack-out camping with no water, electricity, or facilities. Standard Forest Service dispersed camping rules apply: camp at least 200 feet from trails, roads, and water sources.
Dispersed camping enables backcountry camping along many of our hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails
Dispersed camping is available throughout Hoosier National Forest. All dispersed camp sites must be at least 200 feet away from trails, trailheads, roads, water sources, rock shelters, caves, and historic structures unless in a designated campsite. No check-in required with Forest Service for overnight camping.
