Lower Tract South is a paddle-in primitive campsite along the Little Manatee River, an Outstanding Florida Water and major tributary of Tampa Bay. The Lower Tract property was jointly purchased by the Southwest Florida Water Management District and Hillsborough County to protect some of the most pristine river frontage remaining in Hillsborough County. Together with Little Manatee River State Park, six miles of river shoreline have been preserved in their natural state. The river features winding, shallow, narrow channels with tannic water and a sandy bottom. The Designated Paddle Trail runs from the US 301 bridge 9 miles downstream to Wildcat Park Boat Ramp, passing this primitive camping area.
