Butcher Pen Landing is a primitive riverside campground on the Apalachicola River managed by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The facility offers 6 campsites with a kayak launch, floating dock, communal picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof trash cans. Camping requires a free permit obtained through the online reservation system up to 14 days in advance. Access is via 2 miles of dirt road with water crossings. Length of stay varies by season: March 11 to October 31 allows 2-14 consecutive days, while October 31 to March 10 has no limit. Maximum 8 people per site. No restrooms or potable water available.
