Primitive paddle-in camping island along the Charlotte Harbor segment of the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail. Located approximately nine miles south of Stump Pass State Park when traveling the bay side route. This small uninhabited island offers free first-come, first-served camping with a maximum capacity of 8 people or 4 small tents. No permit is required to camp on Dog Island. The island has no facilities whatsoever and campers must pack out all waste following Leave No Trace principles. Maintained by Florida Paddling Trails Association volunteers who visit regularly to keep the island pristine. Popular with sea kayakers and paddlers exploring the Charlotte Harbor Preserve area, offering a remote coastal camping experience. Best suited for self-sufficient paddlers with experience in tidal waters.
