Bagby Recreation Area is a campground and day-use facility operated by the Merced Irrigation District at the upper end of Lake McClure, alongside the Wild and Scenic Merced River off California Highway 49 near Mariposa. The campground offers over 30 developed RV and tent sites, including sites with 30-amp and 50-amp water and electric hookups, plus primitive riverside tent camping spots. Free hot showers, restrooms, a fish cleaning station, and boat launch ramps are available on site. The area draws anglers, boaters, and wildlife watchers, and provides a quieter, more remote alternative to the larger Lake McClure campgrounds.
