Carnero Lake is a dispersed camping area in Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Greer. Access is via Forest Service Road 117A along Carnero Spring Road, which provides clearings near a seventy-acre lake popular for rainbow trout fishing. The unpaved access road may be rough and requires high-clearance vehicles. Roads are typically closed from mid-November to mid-April due to snow and ice. No designated campsites or facilities exist; visitors must follow Leave No Trace principles. Camping is free with no permit required, limited to fourteen days within a thirty-day period per Forest Service regulations. Potable water and toilets are not available. The area offers minimal traffic and a primitive backcountry experience at elevations around 8000 to 9000 feet.
