A Point of Interest in Ozark-St. Francis National Forest near Illinois Bayou, offering free primitive camping and day-use. Originally a developed campground, it transitioned in October 2021 to a no-fee area with reduced services. Four campsites remain available on a first-come, first-served basis, along with historic CCC-built stone shelters, a large pavilion, and vault toilets. The upper camping loop has been permanently closed. Visitors must pack out all trash following Leave No Trace principles. No potable water, electricity, or hookups are available. Recreation opportunities include fishing, swimming, hiking, wildlife viewing, and enjoying scenic bluff views along the Illinois Bayou. Located 6 miles north of Hector on Arkansas Highway 27. Open year-round.
