Little River State Forest spans approximately 2,100 acres of longleaf pine forest between Monroe and Escambia County in south Alabama. The Claude D. Kelley Recreational Area features a 25-acre lake with swimming, fishing, boating, and canoeing opportunities, along with hiking and nature trails, six rental pavilions, cabin accommodations, and both RV hookups and primitive camping. Wildlife viewing includes deer, turkey, birds, bobcats, and foxes. Many facilities remain from original 1934 CCC construction, including the office building, a cabin, and pavilions. Note: The recreational area is currently closed for necessary repairs and improvements - contact the forest office before planning a visit.
