A free dispersed camping area managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers along the Tombigbee River in Clarke County, between Jackson and Coffeeville. The site is located at the remains of Old Lock 1, approximately 12 miles northwest of Jackson on the east side of the Tombigbee River. Camping is free with a maximum stay of 14 days. The park underwent major improvements from 1999 to 2004 through a partnership between the US Army Corps of Engineers, Clarke County Commission, and the State of Alabama. These improvements include a picnic pavilion, restroom facilities with vault toilets, a renovated boat ramp, paved roads and parking lots, and central water access. The facility is a featured site on the Alabama Birding Trails. Construction on Old Lock One began in 1893, with operations starting in 1908. It remains the only original lock on this waterway system still visible above the water line today. Roads are maintained by the Clarke County Commission.
