A remote wilderness group campground accessible only by the Alaska Railroad Glacier Discovery Train, located at Spencer Glacier Lake in the Chugach National Forest. The facility features two group campsites (Site A accommodates 15 guests, Site B accommodates 10 guests, combined maximum 25 guests) sharing a common area with three picnic tables, bear boxes, tarp poles, and a campfire ring. A vault toilet is located 100 yards from the common area. Food storage lockers are provided. Train transportation is always required and reservations must be made through the Alaska Railroad website. The train operates seasonally from late May through mid-September. Located at the head of Placer River Valley with views of the calving glacier and icebergs in Spencer Lake, the area offers packrafting, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and wildlife viewing. This is bear and moose habitat.
