Holter Lake Campground sits along the shores of Holter Lake on the Missouri River in west-central Montana, roughly 45 miles north of Helena. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Butte Field Office, the campground offers 52 sites — including 9 tent-only sites — with level gravel pads that accommodate tents, camper trailers, and RVs. No electrical hookups are available. Amenities include potable water throughout the campground, accessible vault toilets, fire rings with grill grates, picnic tables, garbage dumpsters, a concrete boat launch with courtesy dock, and overnight dock slips on a first-come basis. Camping is by reservation through Recreation.gov. The campground is open year-round, with fees collected from May 1 through Columbus Day. Popular activities include fishing for rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, walleye, and perch, as well as boating, water skiing, hiking, and wildlife viewing.
