A recreation area in Talladega National Forest near Moundville, featuring separate East and West side campgrounds along a picturesque lakeshore. Payne Lake offers 26 developed campsites along the shoreline of the 110-acre lake, available on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. Each site includes a picnic table, cooking fire circle, and tent or trailer pad. The recreation area operates year-round and provides two bathhouses with restrooms and showers, plus a trailer dump station. Activities include boating, bank fishing, swimming at a beach area, and hiking. The facility is located in the heart of Talladega National Forest, offering a tranquil setting surrounded by nature.
