Lake No. 3 Campground is a secluded, primitive camping area in the Tongass National Forest near Thorne Bay on Prince of Wales Island. This small, remote campground offers just 2 hardened campsites, each equipped with fire rings and picnic tables. The campground is named for the lake that one of the sites overlooks, providing scenic water views. The site sits in second-growth forest near Lake Ellen and Lake No. 3, offering excellent opportunities for swimming and fishing for trout and Dolly Varden. The forested area provides habitat for birds, deer, and bears, and is a good location for berry picking. The campground is located less than a mile from the Salt Chuck Trail, which provides access to an abandoned copper mine for those interested in local history and exploration.
